A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM FR. DAVID DUFOUR:
All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their property and possessions and divide them among all according to each one’s need. (Acts 2: 44-45)
This passage, from the Acts of the Apostles, is St. Luke’s description of the early Christian community. After Pentecost, inspired by the Holy Spirit, the earliest Christians gave willingly of their own possessions to support those in their community who were in need. On Friday, August 3rd, we have an opportunity to do the same and give both spiritually as well as of our own goods.
This evening is a benefit for the Rumbo family. Two members of their family, Elideth and her daughter Escarlett, recently passed away in a house fire which destroyed their home. We would like to ask for prayers and support for Mr. Rumbo and his two sons, Eloy Jr. and Emmanuel.
Prayer is essential. Our parish recently opened a chapel for Perpetual Adoration. If you have time, please pray for the family in the chapel in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
Your presence at this event will also give you an opportunity to model the early Christians, and help support the Rumbo’s material needs, which are significant. Please prayerfully consider making a donation. All proceeds will go directly to the Rumbo family.
Finally, we firmly believe that through the power of Jesus’ resurrection, Elideth and Escarlett are now at peace with their Father in Heaven.
God Bless,
Fr. David
